Now celebrating over 4 years of bringing the shoppers of Bristol and the south west the complete guide to shopping at the areas most popular shopping centre. Thank you for your continued support!
If you're looking for somewhere modern, stylish and convenient where you can do all of your shopping whether you're looking for a new pair of shoes, a coat or a new car, somewhere where you can do the weekly shop and then have a meal or perhaps catch a film then Cribbs Causeway offers the complete shopping and leisure solution. The area has been continuously developed over the last 20 or so years and has grown from a handful of out of town stores (Asda or in its previous guise Carrefour was the largest hypermarket in the country) around junction 17 of the M5 and the A4018 Cribbs Causeway (actually the name of the long straight road from the Westbury on Trym direction) to a considerable retail and business location in its own right. It is very convenient and a great day out to boot! Retail therapy at its very best! |

The centre-piece of Cribbs Causeway is a futuristic indoor shopping mall containing over 135 shops including a large John Lewis and a Marks and Spencer (recently refurbished into a fabulous 'concept' store), over a dozen cafes and restaurants, a 1200 seat food court with 15 food outlets and every conceivable facility to make your shopping trip fun and rewarding. No more parking hassles and dodging the showers, The Mall is surrounded by free car parking and has everything you need indoors on two levels. For your weekly shopping needs and a whole lot more visit the UK's first Asda-Walmart Supercentre. This huge store is open 24 hours and offers a new experience in shopping. Apart from the high quality and low prices for foods that are expected from Asda, you will also find a massive range of other goods at discounted prices including clothing, household, sports and electrical. There is an excellent restaurant within the store as well as a pharmacy, vision centre and photography centre. The delicatessen area within the food store is particularly recommended with counters displaying fresh selections of fish, Chinese and Indian food, pizzas, cheeses, meats and a salad bar. Absolutely mouthwatering! |
Recently opened is the first Morrisons supermarket in the south west. Extremely popular in the north of England, Morrisons have now spread to other parts of the UK and are a very welcome arrival at Cribbs Causeway. With loads of free parking as you'd expect at Cribbs Causeway, there is also a filling station and car wash and ample nearby parking for the disabled visitor or those with children. Inside the store you'll find a well-stocked, modern supermarket with all of the familiar brands and also some of Morrisons own popular concepts such as the family butcher, fishmonger, pie shop, market street and takeaway. The in store cafe is particularly recommended for meals and snacks. |
|
Elsewhere you'll find a complete leisure environment with a multi-screen Warner Brothers cinema and many interesting and varied restaurants such as TGI Friday's, Chiquito, KFC McDonalds and Burger King. There is also a superb Harry Ramsden's fish restaurant nearby which often hosts special entertainment events. Recommended for cheap, good food is the restaurant at Asda-Walmart. You could complete the perfect day's shopping by unwinding over a drink or meal or by catching the latest movie. Development plans for the old Dave and Busters site are eagerly awaited. Why not e-mail us your ideas? How about a 10 pin bowling centre or indoor go-karts? |

The extensive retail area boasts every large out-of-town store you would expect to find such as PC World, B & Q (with a garden centre), Comet, Argos, Club Golf, DFS, Toys R Us and Allied Carpets. There are also several motor dealers including Dick Lovett which is the main BMW dealer for the area and also the vast Mercedes Benz Direct and the newly relocated Templegate Peugeot. There are considerable businesses located nearby obviously aware of the convenient motorway access. The area is very popular with travellers from the north and midlands taking a break on their journeys to the south west for a spot of shopping or something to eat. If you're in a dash and need something to eat you'll find several drive-thru's and a takeaway at Harry Ramsden's fish restaurant. |
If you're traveling by car you will find ample, free parking either at the mall or near every out-of-town store. Its a good idea to plan your visit around where you need to locate your car. That is if you are collecting heavy items or food shopping then you might want to park near the appropriate exit. There are designated collect by car spaces near Marks and Spencer. There is convenient access from Bristol or from the motorway system at Junction 17 of the M5. In certain car parks the AA even provide a breakdown service. Petrol is available at the Cribbs Service Station or at Asda (open 24 hours). Cribbs Causeway is on many bus and coach routes (see First City Line's site) and there is a large bus station on site. You could even come by train with Parkway station only a short bus ride away. |

If you're staying longer, accommodation is conveniently available at several nearby hotels. There is a Travelodge adjoining the Lamb and Flag Harvester near the motorway junction (tel: 0117 9501530) and other local hotels include the Aztec Hotel (tel: 01454 201090) and the Hilton Hotel (tel: 01454 201144). For a full list of local accommodation click here. Other attractions of interest to visitors might include Big W at Filton or Ikea on the M32 at Eastville.
You'll find cashpoints placed within The Mall at the ground floor entrance near Marks and Spencer's and on the first floor near John Lewis. The include machines for Lloyds, Nat West, Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays. There is also a Link cashpoint situated at the Bristol and West on the first floor. Elsewhere you'll find further cashpoints at Asda , Morrisons and outside McDonalds. There is a Bureau de change at Thomas Cook and Marks and Spencer provide a cashback facility. There are five toilet blocks around the Mall and also at the other major stores such as Asda, at the Warner Village Cinema and at restaurants such as Harry Ramsdens and McDonalds.

There is also a free outdoor play area near Boots for children between 4 and 12. There are changing facilities in all 5 cloakrooms with baby-feeding cubicles and nappy vending machines.
Naturally such a brilliant place is always very popular with a great atmosphere but if you prefer visiting at a quieter time it is suggested that you take advantage of the late night opening at most stores until 8pm (perhaps you could combine your shopping expedition with a visit to the cinema or perhaps a meal in one of the restaurants) or alternatively early birds could take advantage of the 10am opening time weekdays in The Mall . If you're only free at weekends then the best time to visit The Mall is when the centre opens at 9am on Saturday or 11am on Sunday. Although the area does get very busy at weekends there is always car parking available (somewhere!) and the areas are marked to prevent you from losing your car. The Asda-Walmart Supercentre is open 24 hours a day and so is ideal for night owls and many of the larger retail stores have late opening. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are particularly busy throughout the year but there is always a nice, bustling atmosphere.
The Mall is very welcoming to disabled visitors with automatic doors and lifts throughout the building. You will find talking signs and 280 conveniently located parking bays near the entrances on both levels of the Mall. Particularly useful ones are those grouped around the entrances near John Lewis and Marks and Spencer and also the central access points near WH Smith and Boots. At John Lewis literature is available in large print or on audio tape. The AccessAbility unit is located on the lower level of car park K (near the bus station) and can be contacted on 0117 9155326. One criticism from a number of correspondents has been that you have to use a lift to get from the accessability unit to the main shopping levels, We're sure that the staff would be happy to assist if this was a problem. For information on services and free equipment loan click here. There are conveniently located disabled parking bays near all of the other retail stores at Cribbs Causeway.
If you're interested in employment opportunities at Cribbs Causeway where there are often many part-time and full-time vacancies available then contact The Mall Employment Service on 0117 9913559. If you're interested in working at a particular store either in The Mall or elsewhere at Cribbs Causeway then you could contact the store directly and ask for the Manager or Personnel Manager. Vacancies may be advertised in local Jobcentres, the nearest is at Westbury-on-Trym (tel: 0117 991 3559). Alternatively if you're interested in a career in retailing you could search the In Retail site. Morrisons have their own jobs website. Good luck!
